I am launching Patreon to build a membership base. This is the first phase of our "community supported art and music" program. The idea is to raise capital to improve and expand Mom&Pop Production events and projects in and around our community.
Many folks have come to me this past year encouraging me to launch this. So we are taking a page out of Friends of Bob's playbook and building a membership program that helps support Mom&Pop events through small to large contributions. Patreon is a very useful tool that will help us keep track of members and be able to give people access to behind the scenes content, videos, merch, tickets, and hopefully more as this grows!
Mom&Pop Productions is largely self financed which has made it difficult to provide consistent programming beyond small listening rooms and venues. As I look to the future I would like to eventually get to the point where I can afford to put on monthly concerts at Duncan Hall as well as scale up my pop ups that would include more festival type events!
There are a lot of exciting projects in the works that are beyond my financial means including production improvements (audio / lighting gear for example), new event launches, our full retrospective archive (videos, pictures, posters, articles) which spans the 20 years of Mom&Pop events, and more. Mom&Pop needs more people to help expand and maintain the archive, and host new events and the portion of what we raise through membership will be bringing more people on to our team!
We currently have several tiers starting at $2 a month, with different levels of access to content, merch, and events but they are ALL important and matter to Mom&Pop as we grow and engage our community.
I've been bringing music to Lafayette for 20 years now and yes some of that has been my own stubbornness to see cool things happen here, but it also has had A LOT to do with all the folks in this town that have shown up again and again to my events. I believed people would come to my shows and you all believed they would be fun! So I'm curious how far can we go? I constantly receive requests and suggestions but I'm only me and only have so many hours in a day (many times its 12 or more working on events)
I am hoping that my community will help me retain more help, improve our production, attract larger artists, and maybe even start up some more fun projects! That is the return on all levels of support for Mom&Pop, you get to attend better events, create jobs in our community, help build our town as a destination for artists and patrons, and receive more unique experiences and content.
